Bass reflex

The frequency response of an enclosed cabinet begins to fade below the resonant frequency. By adding an additional channel, it is possible to create a Helmholtz resonator, which extends the frequency response downwards, provided it is correctly calculated and constructed. The tuning frequency is a function of the ratio of the cabinet volume to the length and cross-section of the bass reflex vent, not of the loudspeaker itself.
