Magnet

The magnet creates a magnetic field. The stronger the field, the better the efficiency and pulse response. For reasons of expense, the most common material used is ferrite. Stronger fields can be achieved with relatively compact magnets if alnico, which is expensive, or neodymium, which is very expensive, are used.
