Tweeter cone

Depending on the design and the materials used, the sound-producing surface of cone-type loudspeakers may produce lower volumes of the higher frequencies. This range of frequencies is then produced by the surface of the dust cap. Where large voice coils are used (in relation to the diaphragm area) the volume level is inclined to diminish at higher frequencies. To improve this range of frequencies with full-range loudspeakers, a tweeter cone (dual cone) can be added to the voice coil/dust cap. The overall efficiency of the driver is only slightly affected by the additional mass, but the sound-dispersing surface is greatly increased.
