Sound for winners
Spin the roulette wheel, play pinball or go for the jackpot on the slot machine: modern slot machines offer plenty of entertainment. Manufacturers focus on a rich, clear sound in addition to large touch displays. It is, after all, important to stand out in the casinos and gambling halls of the world. The experts at VISATON know very well how to achieve the ideal sound – and why good loudspeakers alone are sometimes not enough. Imagine the scene: the lights are dimmed to achieve the right atmosphere, the people in the room are focusing on colourful screens or deep in thought at their gaming tables. The background music is carefully chosen to underline the mood. Anyone who has ever tried their luck in a casino or an arcade will know this atmosphere. Now, when a loud ringing noise followed by a clattering of coins and a siren is heard, all heads turn. Jackpot! With some of these machines, winning the jackpot may also be announced with a loud guitar riff. From the point of view of gaming equipment manufacturers, the sounds produced by the machines, not just when a jackpot is paid out, must have both depth and volume so that the gaming experience remains unforgettable. The necessary loudspeaker design, including optimisation of the installation conditions, is a job for specialists. As such, VISATON has been established in the gaming segment for decades.
"When we have the opportunity to exchange ideas with customers on site and present a range of different solutions, topics often arise that improve the final sound result."

New machines – new requirements
In recent times, gaming techniques have become more versatile and sophisticated. In addition to the classic slot machines and their digitally spinning reels, there is a huge range of machines with their own requirements for sound and noises. In addition to clicking, ringing and muzak, the machines play entire music soundtracks that accompany the game content. If several people are playing at the same table at the same time, as in roulette or poker, it is important that each player understands all the instructions in their selected language.
The premium segment poses an even greater challenge. In terms of content, the manufacturers draw on pop culture or the world of cinema for their designs. Pirates, ghost stories or superheroes: there are innumerable ideas and this has consequences when it comes to the loudspeaker systems, because the roaring of a virtual monster requires different configurations from, say, a vending machine model that repeats the beeping sounds of a retro racing game from the 90s.
Individual solutions for every machine design
In general, however, the trend in the premium segment is towards volume and bass. This is no easy task for the loudspeaker specialists. This is because the amplifier, subwoofer and satellite speakers needed for rich sound have to share the space with large displays and the associated electronic circuitry. And this is where the advice of the specialists comes into its own.
With its decades of experience and capabilities, VISATON can help any customer and produce customised speaker systems. The experts develop solutions that not only sound good, but are also affordable.
Individually for each customer, the specialists look into the crucial questions of what sound is intended to come out of the speakers in the end? What is the installation situation? Does music have to be played? What volume is required? Taking into account the three decisive parameters of bass, volume and installation space, they will find the right components.
On-site consulting – the solution for all possibilities
A proven VISATON combination, not only in the gaming segment, are ultra-compact amplifiers such as the AMP 2.1 PM supplemented by a ten-watt subwoofer and two satellites with five watts each. Since the AMP 2.1 PM is smaller than a packet of cigarettes, all three components can be installed in the smallest possible space. Pre-assembled with housing or individually – the customer decides.
The simple performance characteristics of a loudspeaker do not tell us very much. The installation location is ultimately decisive, and this applies to gaming machines just as much as to other areas of application, such as on cruise ships, in railway stations or mobile homes.
VISATON has been a reliable partner here for decades. Ideally, cooperation with the manufacturer begins in the early development phase of a device. This way, the developers can find solutions together, which simplifies their work and leads to better sound results. Individual colours for visible diaphragms and performance requirements far beyond standard requirements are also available. Starting with the range of products available, customers have the choice between numerous speakers suitable for gaming. Together with the option of creating bespoke solutions, we are normally able to fulfil every customer wish.
"In the competitive loudspeaker segment, we always have the total cost of ownership in mind for the customer. That's why counselling is so important."
Andreas Rohn, Verkaufsleiter
Special needs and questions can be discussed most effectively at an on-site appointment, as experience from many projects has shown. VISATON works internationally for manufacturers in the most important markets. In Europe, besides Germany and Austria, these include Spain, Italy and several countries in Eastern Europe.
"There is a clear trend towards bass and more volume. Loudspeakers in gaming machines today deliver almost hi-fi quality."
