Multi-driver speaker cabinets

If you want to build a cabinet with the maximum possible range of frequencies, there are two options: you can use a full-range loudspeaker or split the frequency range across a number of loudspeakers. Both solutions have advantages and drawbacks. Advantages of multi-driver speaker cabinets: 1. greater range of frequencies covered 2. better power-handling capabilities 3. less inclined to generate partial resonance 4. less intermodulation distortion 5. less Doppler distortion. Rules for selecting drivers for multi-driver speaker cabinets: - they should have the same mean sound pressure, where the signal level of mid-range speakers and tweeters may be reduced - for reasons of economy, it makes sense to have the power-handling capabilities and sound characteristics of the individual drivers matched as closely as possible - the individual drivers should be checked to determine their optimum range of frequencies
