Self-resonant frequency

The driver free air resonance (fs) is one of the Thiele-Small parameters and is necessary for calculating the dimensions of speaker cabinets. This is the frequency at which a speaker cone which is not built into a cabinet will resonate, or the frequency that produces the greatest possible excursion of the cone for the lowest power output. It can be read off from the local maximum peak of the impedance curve. From the resonant frequency upwards, a loudspeaker will effectively generate sound.
